Protocolized-Pharmco-Therapy
Individuals living with poor mental health conditions
Recovery-based treatment protocol for more accessible care
Recovery pathways through first-responder networks
This program expands first responders for mental health by training community members to identify early signs using video-based tools. It follows a collaborative care model, where primary care providers, guided by psychiatrists, deliver protocol-based treatment remotely.
Evidence Base
To expand the network of first responders through protocols, this program includes low-touch training for community health workers, teachers, and key informants on identifying early signs of mental illness using video-based delivery. Using a collaborative care model (Archer et al., 2012; Jacob et al., 2012; Thota et al., 2012; Unützer et al., 2002; Woltmann et al., 2012), the primary care providers can develop a protocol-based treatment plan for their patients in consultation with a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist can enable the provision of specialised care through primary health providers and can take responsibility for offering high-quality, evidence-based care without the need for an in-person meeting with the patient. The protocolised-pharmaco-therapy would be the first step in the collaborative care model.
